Rob Butler is as passionate about running a family business as he is about giving back. As a joint owner of several car dealerships in the Indiana region, Butler and his father have focused Butler Auto Group around the principles of family and community.
After graduating from Ball State University in Muncie, Rob and his best friend ventured into managing their own car rental and boating companies. Next, he returned to Butler Auto Group in the late ‘90s where he quickly embraced the ethics and principles of the family business which he learned as a child.
Butler’s business ethics and working relationships mirror his finesse for strong, long-standing bonds with his clients and community. In 2015, Nuvo Magazine readers voted Butler Hyundai and Butler Toyota Scion the “Best of Indy”. This incredible achievement speaks to Butler’s trustworthy nature and dedication to provide the best service and vehicles to the Indiana community.
Building upon this devotion to community service, Rob is also proud to assist local community initiatives that assist children, parents, and families. For over a decade, he has participated in matching programs for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and Riley Children’s Foundation which earn $10,000 in donations for both causes each year. Butler also supports Alternative Shelters–one of few domestic abuse shelter that doesn’t turn a person away–by offering minivans for children to attend school and weekend activities. Sak’s Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure, Toyota’s Hole in One Program, and local school events are also community endeavors Butler passionately supports.
A family man at heart, Butler recently fulfilled one of his father’s personal dreams when the Alfa Romeo car brand re-entered the U.S. market. Earlier in his career, his father owned an Alfa Romeo dealership during its last tenure, but he lost the business when the manufacturer stopped selling in the U.S. The sports car is now back in the Butler showroom and Rob’s father is reunited with one of his favorite vehicles. As the eldest Butler heads closer to retirement, his son ensures that Butler Auto Group remains an Alfa Romeo dealer to honor his dad.
Butler works with his dad and best friend to continue Butler Auto Group’s unique legacy of an accessible and close-knit business and work community. Many of the employees have worked at Butler Auto Group for generations.
Rob is also an avid music-enthusiast and supports local and global music scenes in his spare time. He also likes to fish and travel.
